Melee Combat: Using piercing damage, parrying, and quick step are effective against them. A counter attack can work but you need a long reaching weapon. A heavy attack from a sword that does a pierce animation should work but it's too short and can be slow; finding a spear or a thrusting weapon should help. Godrick Knights wielding Knight's Greatswords have the typical sword-wielding knight moveset, but with an additional vertical slam attack. While it is possible to parry this attack, it can be dangerous, since they are capable of delaying the downswing. Godrick Knights wielding Partisans have the typical spear-wielding knight moveset, but with the addition of a charging attack while holding their guard up.
