Notes
Chapel of AnticipationLandmark. 2 in Fringefolk Hero's GraveDungeon [More Info ]. Stormveil CastleDungeon Liurnia of the LakesRegion (disguised as a Giant Crayfish) [More Info ] Mt. Gelmir Stance: 80. Parryable: Yes Guard Break: Yes Is vulnerable to a critical hit after being stance broken or parried Weak spot: Head Can block upcoming ranged attacks with its shield. Damage: Standard, Strike, Pierce, Holy (1st) Only first Grafted Scion has boss bars, but all don't respawn when killed Negations (or Absorptions). Standard: 0 Slash: -10 Strike: 0 Pierce: 0 Magic: 20 Fire: 20 Lightning: 20 Holy: 20 The negation numbers are the of your damage that gets blocked. For example, if a negation is 60, 40 of that damage by that type will go through and 60 will be negated. Bigger number less damage. A negation of 100 means no damage goes through, and a negation of -100 mean the enemy takes 2x damage from that source. 0 means damage goes pretty much as is. Grafted Scion Boss Guide Grafted Scion Fight Strategy. The Best Tips for Grafted Scion: Avoid guarding as much as possible, focus on rolling instead. Use quick to cast spells like Glintstone Pebble. Vagabound and Samurai classes are the best to kill him during 1st encounter due to their stance-breaking skills. Melee Strategy Bait: Keep your distance and try to get it to use Leaping Stab, Crawling Stabs or (later in the fight) Piercing Stabs. Dodge the attack, get in a couple hits, and then back off. Don't get greedy: it will often use Scream after being damaged, and you don't want to be nearby for that. You can also watch for two consecutive clockwise slashes: this always signals the end of a combo, and you can safely get in a hit after it as well. Magic and Ranged Strategy Bide Your Time: Keep your distance and focus on dodging if you can and guarding if you have to. Don't attack until you know it's safe, such as during the long recovery period after Leaping Stab, Crawling Stabs, its double-sword Stab, or (later in the fight) Piercing Stabs. It has long combos and can react to being shot with moves that will close distance, so stay on your toes once it has recovered. Grafted Scion Attacks & Counters Attack Description Counter Slash Slashes one or both of its swords in various directions Usually used as part of a combo, so dodge away and wait for the combo to finish Rolling Slash Swings both its swords in one direction while rolling, then swings them twice again before scuttling back a bit Dodge away twice. Stab Quickly stabs one or both of its swords forward Dodge to either side Leaping Stab Leaps high into the air, then stabs its sword straight down into the ground Roll forward a beat after it reaches the apex of its leap as it raises its shield, then get in an attack while it recovers Shield Slam Lifts its shield high above its head, then slams it down Roll clockwise around it as its body begins to descend and get in an attack while it recovers Shield Bash Shoves its shield forward Roll back Crawling Stabs Stands up higher and stabs the ground while walking forward, then leaps and slams down all its weapons Walk around it while it moves, then roll forward when its body begins to fall and get in a hit while it recovers Retreat Stabs one sword then slashes clockwise with the other while scuttling backwards Dodge back and to the side Scream Lowers its head and screams, dealing damage to anything closeby. Roll back and keep your distance until it's done. Guarding isn't effective against this attack. If you're quick, you can get in one hit between this attack ending and it starting another combo Golden Tempering Crosses its swords together, buffing them with Holy damage for one minute. Only used below 50 health, and only in the Chapel of AnticipationLandmark and Mt. Gelmir This attack takes almost three full seconds and doesn't do any damage, so use it as an opportunity to get in a few hits Fencing Stance Stands up tall and holds one sword above it in a fencing stance, preparing to do a powerful attack. Only used below 60 health Try to stay far away to encourage it to use Piercing Stabs, which is easier to punish Spinning Slash Raises up its lower sword, then spins clockwise four and a half times with swords extended. It will push its shield away from its body when the attack is about to end. Used in Fencing Stance you're nearby Run away when it raises up its lower sword and circle behind it as it spins, then move in as the attack finishes to get in a hit while it recovers Piercing Stabs Spreads its swords wide, then stabs them forward three times, pauses briefly, stabs seven more times, pauses again, then stabs both swords across one another in front of it. Used in Fencing Stance when you're further away Move behind it when you see it spread its swords and start attacking as soon as you're not at risk of getting hit : Attack can be parried Grafted Scion Notes & Other Trivia FAQ: How do you kill the Spider Most player's first encounter with this Spider Boss known as the Grafted Scion will not usually end in its defeat especially since this occurs at the very beginning of the game. This encounter is part of the tutorial process and although you must face this Boss to progress, it is not required that you defeat it at this time. In fact, it is not expected that you have a successful initial encounter since this area can be returned to at a later time in the game which some players may not find out until later on. Complete this encounter with either a win or defeat and continue about your game until you reach The Four BelfriesGrace. If you didn't defeat Grafted Scion during the tutorial, you can return and face it again through the waygate marked Precipice of Anticipation in The Four BelfriesGrace. This can be done after you have returned with more experience, improve your equipment and level. This is especially beneficial for people who want to receive its unique drops: Ornamental Straight Sword and Golden Beast Crest Shield. Players can also face the same type of Spider boss at the Fringefolk Hero's GraveDungeon, Stormveil CastleDungeon and Liurnia of the LakesRegion. See the Location guides above on how to recognize the Boss arena and how to get there. Use the strategy guides and keep your distance against this Boss while wearing out its hp eventually leading to its defeat. Use a combination of dodging and waiting for attack windows before closing in for your attack. Once you have the opportunity to approach, close in and deal a few attacks before distancing your character again and repeating the same process.
