They spawn midair, up above, and fall to the ground. This can be avoided if the player checks their corners. There are occasionally somewhat taller individual Putrid Corpses that have more health and drop more Runes. Despite their appearances, are not undead and are not weak to holy. Most are vulnerable to bleed and fire damage.
