While it does only 10 less damage than standard Ballista Bolts, the bolt drops much quicker resulting in it being harder to use at longer ranges. Testing needed to determine whether damage falloff from distance is also quicker. Hefty Beast Bones can be bought infinitely after defeating the Bell Bearing Hunter at Warmaster's ShackGrace, allowing one to cheaply get infinite Greatbolts early in the game. Since the bolts are craftable at a 5 to 1 ratio of bolts to bones, carrying 99 Hefty Beast Bones allows one to far surpass the normal 20 carry limit on Greatbolts by crafting new ones without resting at a grace.
