Notes
Dropped by Maleigh Marais, Shaded Castle Castellan, a hostile NPC found in the fields west of The Shaded CastleDungeon. Impaling Thrust. This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War. Antspur Rapier can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones. Causes Scarlet Rot Builup: (55) As this weapon has innate Scarlet Rot, and can be infused with ashes of war, it is possible to have Scarlet Rot, Blood Loss, and Poison on this weapon. This requires the Black Whetblade and can be done by infusing the weapon with either Seppuku and choosing the poison affinity, or by infusing the weapon with Poisonous Mist and choosing the bleed affinity. This way, when you use the weapon art to buff the weapon, you have all 3 statuses at once. Pairs extremely well with another powerstanced Thrusting Sword. The powerstance Thrusting sword moveset is unique in that the 2nd L1 in the combo utilizes a very fast triple hit from the right hand weapon (as opposed to attacking with both left and right in succession). This allows you to proc status effects extremely quickly, since you effectively double the number of hits with the weapon per button input. Works especially well when paired with the above strategy Sell Value: 200 With a little bit of patience, this weapon can be used to fairly easily kill the Draconic Tree Sentinel that bars entry to LeyndellRegion. Hit him enough times to inflict Rot, then run down the mountain till he stops attacking you and wait for the Rot to wear off. It only takes 3 applications to kill him This strategy allows early access to many items that would otherwise be limited to the mid-late game Bug: Cold-affinity Ashes of War makes this weapon scarlet rot build up from 50 at 0 to 75 at 5. From 6 to 25 Scarlet Rot build up is 0. Any other affinity lowers Rot build up to 50 and it stays at same level, no matter the weapon level. Fixed in The Antspur Rapier can be infused with Ashes of War. See usable Ashes of War.
